Narendra Modi visits ISKCON mandir on Janmashtami
Ahmedabad, 3 September, 2010
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi visited Ahmedabad’s ISKCON mandir on Janmashtami and performed puja there. Modi pulled Bhagwan Shri Baal Krishna’s swing here to celebrate ‘Paarnna’.
“Lord Krishna’s discourse delivered in Bhagvad Geeta is source of motivation for Legendary Mahatma Gandhi to a common person,” Modi said.
“Today’s new generation celebrate Friendship day under western culture’s influence, but centuries ago, it was Shri Krishna and Sudama’s friendship that showed the true spirit of friendship to the world. Gujarat should take initiative to celebrate such friendship in memory of Shri Krishna and keep it alive forever,” Modi added.
“Shri Krishna left the bank of river Yamuna, to select Gujarat’s Dwarka bhoomi for rest, and appeared as Chakradhari, Chakravarti. He showed a path of solution of today’s problems to the nation and the world through hid life and character. Each Gujarati obviously feels proud about this,” he added further.
ISKCON mandir’s Chief Shri Jashomati Nandandasji welcomed the Chief Minister earlier.
