God exists-Documentary evidences-3-MELKOTE, Karnataka State
by icshyderabad

As promised yesterday this is one more recorded evidence of existence of god (3)
The place: MELKOTE, Karnataka State.
The legend is like this.

During the visit of Ramanuja (founder of Vishishtaadwaita) to Melkote, he found that the Utsava Moorthy(the deity taken out for processions etc.,) was not there, and that it was looted by Moghuls, and is in their custody in Delhi. He proceeded to Delhi with a batch of Vaishnavites, and approached the Sultan. He was given interview, and asked for restoration of the idol to his custody. The Sultan said he can go and search in the godown where so many temple articles(looted) were kept, and take the idol and go away. Thorough search revealed that this idol alone was missing. That night after prayer, by intuition he found that the idol is in the chamber of princess.

Next day he boldly informed the Sultan about this, which was verified and found correct.

When requested the princess refused to part with the idol, as she loves and adores it.

The Sultan mockingly told Ramanuja, that if his lord is so great, Ramanuja should call him from the court hall, and if he comes, then he can take possession and go back.

Ramanuja did beckon the lord, and the idol came out and landed in his lap. Seeing the adored and loved lord going out, the princess immediately dies. Her love(faith) was understood by Ramanuja, and even today in this temple, they prepare Roti and Daal for her-who is known as BiBi Naachiyar.

The records are available in the temple archives. Her image in gold is there at the feet of the idol, which is worshipped by hindus with all fervour.
